Commendations for the McClave School District 2007-2008

When reviewing the list of commendations for the 2006-2007 school year, the District leadership believes they are still intact with one important broad philosophical change. Our students are not performing up to their potential and we need to find a solution for each student. What follows is an action list for the 2008-2009 school year.

1. All students will be master readers and mathematically literate.

a. Lindamood Bell training at all levels and in all elementary classrooms (summer 08)

b. Establish a reading specialist for K-5 (accomplished 01/08)

c. Re-align elementary schedule and math and reading times (summer 08)

d. Establish one month of summer school for all students (summer 08/sign up complete)

2. All staff will have an intervention mindset on behalf of all students.

a. RTI training begun in spring of 07 (staff is 60% onboard as of 06/08)

b. Complete training on Alpine for RTI tool kit (04/08)

c. Complete Lab updates on all processing tools (completed summer 08)

d. All staff will increase level of professional communication concerning students between themselves (administration, teachers, testing specialists)

e. Flexible scheduling will be established to accommodate students needing high intensity remediation.
